What is the process for becoming a foster parent?

The process includes completing an application, passing background checks, attending training sessions, and participating in a home inspection to ensure a safe and nurturing environment for every child.

Who Does Serenity Welcome as Foster Parents?

Anyone called to serve who is 21 or older, a U.S. Citizen or Permanent Resident, has a HS Diploma/GED, passes background checks, is financially stable, and can provide a safe home full of love and serenity.

Do I need to be married to foster?

No. Serenity welcomes single individuals, married couples, and families of all backgrounds who can provide a safe and nurturing home.

Do I need experience working with children?

No experience is required. Serenity provides all the training, support, and coaching you'll need to guide and care for children.

Is there a cost to become a foster parent?

There is no cost to become licensed. All required trainings, home studies, and support services are provided by Serenity at no charge.

Can I foster if I work full-time?

Absolutely. Many foster parents work full-time. Serenity helps coordinate daycare, school needs, and supports your schedule.

What ages of children need foster homes?

Children of all ages need loving homes—from infants to teens. Serenity works with you to identify the age range you feel comfortable supporting.

Do foster parents receive financial support?

Yes. Foster parents receive a monthly reimbursement to help cover the child’s basic needs, clothing, food, transportation, and more.

Is fostering the same as adoption?

No. Fostering focuses on providing temporary care while the child’s long-term plan is developed. Adoption is a permanent legal commitment. Serenity supports both paths.

What if I feel unsure or overwhelmed?

You are never alone. Serenity offers 24/7 support, crisis guidance, and continuous coaching to help you navigate challenges with confidence.
